The odds of it happening once are approximately 12,500 to 1. The odds of it happening twice in the same day on the same hole, well, let’s just say it has to be up there with winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning, twice. For Dave Hedderman and Tim Sheahan, those very long odds became an improbable reality at the Victory Ranch 2015 Men’s Member/Guest Golf Tournament, held July 17 – 18.
On Friday, Day 1 of the two-day tournament, both men teed up on the 14th hole of the Rees Jones-designed Victory Ranch Golf Course and aced the 145-yard Par 3.
First to do so was Hedderman, a Victory Ranch member, who, after sinking the shot, stated confidently, “Well that’ll be a skin.” A little while later, Sheahan, a guest of Victory Ranch member Matt Carolan, struck his ace, which unbelievably canceled out Hedderman’s chance of winning a skin on that hole.
While Hedderman and Sheahan were unmatched in fortune, the tournament belonged to member Kelsey Christensen and his guest Sean McSweeney. The duo took home the 2015 Men’s Member/Guest champion’s title, with a two-day score of 128. The runner-up team was Brian Ehman and his guest Jurrius Crockett. The pair shot an impressive 132 over the two days.
Final Scores:
Much more than a golf tournament, the 2015 Men’s Member/Guest weekend featured a special dinner on Friday night prepared by Executive Chef Adam Price at the Freestone Lodge. As the players competed on Saturday, spouses were treated to a complimentary Paint & Wine Mixer on the flagstone terrace of the Freestone Lodge, overlooking the Upper Provo River. At the conclusion of play on Saturday, an awards luncheon was held for players and spouses.
Next up at the Victory Ranch Golf Course is the 3rd Annual Club Championship on August 1 – 2, and on August 29, the Club will host the Ladies Member/Guest Golf Tournament. For a complete schedule of golf events and more, please visit the event calendar here.
