The Ultimate Guide to Hiking Beyond Victory Ranch’s Gates

Nature is calling, and you won’t have to go far to answer. While all of our backcountry trails are currently open for member-use at the Ranch, for those who want to explore the Wasatch a little bit more, the options beyond our gates are abundant. Time to head out and explore our neighboring trails — all listed below. 

KAMAS

1. Nobletts Creek Trail is a 2.1-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Victory Ranch that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and horses and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. EASY

2. Log Hollow Trail is a 6.8-mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Kamas, Utah that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips and bird watching and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

3. Yellow Pine Trail is a 9.2-mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

4. Shingle Creek Trail is a 12.1-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. MODERATE

5. Cedar Hollow Loop is a 10.6-mile loop trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a great forest setting and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, camping, and cross-country skiing. HARD

*If you are not up for a long haul, it is still beautiful to hike out 1.5 miles for an out and back.

UINTAS

1. Mirror Lake Trail is a 4-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until November. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. EASY

2. Beaver Creek Trail is a 5.3-mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features beautiful wildflowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. EASY

3. Bald Mountain Trail is a 2.6-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail. MODERATE

4. Lofty Lake Loop Trail is a 4.4-mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and fishing and is best used from June until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

OAKLEY

1. Seymour Canyon is a 3.5-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Oakley, Utah that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. Horses are also able to use this trail. MODERATE

2. Oakley Ridge Trail is a 4.6-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. MODERATE

PARK CITY

1. Bald Mountain via Silver Lake Trail is a 4-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Park City, Utah that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

2. Rob’s Trail is an 8.5-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Park City, Utah that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from June until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

3. Flying Dog Loop is a 15.7-mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Park City, Utah that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE

4. Mid Mountain Trail is a 23-mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Park City, Utah that features a great forest setting and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. HARD

5. Wasatch Crest Trail is a 16-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Salt Lake City, Utah that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from June until October. HARD

SUNDANCE

1. Stewart Falls Trail is a 3.4-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Sundance Resort that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail. MODERATE

*Alternatively, you can access this trail by going to the resort and taking the gondola.

2. Mount Timpanogos Trail from Aspen Grove is a 15.9-mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Provo, Utah that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. HARD

MIDWAY

1. Deer Creek Trail is a 15-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Midway, Utah that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for mountain biking and is accessible year-round. EASY

Great for bike rides as well.

2. Dutch Hollow: Burnt Ridge to Sage Loop is a 3.6-mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Midway, Utah that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. MODERATE
