Member Spotlight: The Edwards Family

We continue our Member Spotlight series this month with the Edwards family from Palos Verdes Estates, California. Blake is an Executive Director at EY in the Health practice, and Meredith is very active in their community, volunteering for the schools and local programs. They have two kids:  Hayden, 11, and Piper, 9. No stranger to the Park City/Deer Valley area, Meredith grew up skiing in Deer Valley, and when it was time to teach the kids to ski, Deer Valley was the obvious choice. The adventurous family of four can be found spending time at Victory Ranch enjoying the yurts, tubing down the Provo, teeing off on the golf course and exploring the backcountry.

Honestly, one of the biggest things that struck us about Victory Ranch was the people (aside from the gorgeous landscape, open space, and all the fun things to do!).

How did you first hear about Victory Ranch, and what was your first impression upon visiting?

Meredith Edward: A friend had been to Victory Ranch after Sterling Bay bought it. He thought it was amazing. We had never spent any time in Utah in the summer, so we made a trip about five years ago during the summer and we were sold! We investigated other developments but when we came to Victory Ranch for the first time in May of 2015, we knew we had found the right place for our family.

Which home type did you purchase on property?

ME: We purchased an estate homesite in November of 2015, and we have begun planning our build now.

What do you look forward to most as a member at Victory Ranch?

ME: We have been members now for a year and a half, and we are looking forward to building a house of our own here and being able to continue to share this special place with friends and family.

Your family is very active here at Victory Ranch. What are some of the activities you enjoy, and are there activities you haven’t done before and are anxious to try?

ME: We have done almost all the activities offered at the Ranch. We even did the tubing down the Provo the last time we were there. We have stayed in the yurts, fly fished, shot guns at the 5-stand, explored the backcountry on a Ranger, used the workout facilities and pool, and of course golfed. Hayden has found a new love for golf and played over 60 holes the last time we visited. We would like to try the guided hiking, biking, and snowshoe tours.

What’s your favorite season at the Ranch?

ME: We enjoy anytime of the year.  Our favorite season is the time we are at Victory Ranch.

What’s the best meal you have eaten at the Ranch?

ME: We love the tomahawk steak and now have a cult following of pictures of guests, members, and family holding the steak by the large t-bone.  Overall, the food is awesome and Chef Adam is great with the members.  Adam and his staff always come up with great specials and keep the food fun!

How has your interaction been with the staff at Victory Ranch?

ME: The staff is fabulous! Honestly, one of the biggest things that struck us about Victory Ranch was the people (aside from the gorgeous landscape, open space, and all the fun things to do!). The staff absolutely make the place. From our first experience with the sales staff to the member services ladies who tell us “welcome home” to the outfitters, they all are so welcoming and they seem to genuinely enjoy seeing us back on the ranch. What other club do you get hugs when you return? And those folks are just the ones we interact with most!

At Victory Ranch, the staff all know your name, treat you as friends, and provide a sense of community.  “No” is not in their vocabulary. We look forward to seeing the staff as much as the beautiful views.

What winter activities are you looking forward to at Victory Ranch this upcoming winter season?

ME: Skiing is what brought us to Park City, but we have loved snowmobiling (how cool are the little kid snowmobiles?), tubing, and ice skating but haven’t cross country skied or snowshoed yet.  That is on the list for this coming winter!
