Wildflowers, warmer days and a fresh crop of outdoor activities are right around the corner here at Victory Ranch. Spring is starting to bloom, which means there are even more enlivening adventures to embrace across our more than 6,250 acres of pristine landscape and scenic Utah backcountry— from fishing along the Upper PRovo to setting out for a daytime hike on our miles of picture-perfect trails. Plus, residents can tap Victory Ranch’s team of on-staff Outfitters to gather the right supplies and ensure a day that’s unforgettable for all the right reasons. Here, we spotlight four springtime activities to put on your to-do list this season — perfect for adults, kids and families alike.
Fishing
After the lakes and rivers have thawed, the fish will be hungry — making fishing a fruitful and fun springtime activity. For pond fishing, cast a line at Stony Lake or try reeling in some trout at the Freestone Pond, home to approximately 300 types — including Kamloop Rainbow Trout, Donaldson Rainbow Trout, Pacific Northwest Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Tiger Trout.
Archery
With its mild weather and clear skies, spring is a great season for some open-air target practice. Victory Ranch’s Archery Range offers 10-, 20- and 40-yard hay bale targets and a selection of bows and arrows for both youth archers and adults. And mark your calendars, Victory Ranch’s 3D Archery course is set to open later in the summer (stay tuned for more details).
Mountain Biking
Once the trails are totally dry and free of snowy runoff, seize the opportunity to explore them by mountain bike. Victory Ranch offers approximately 25 miles of paths that crisscross the incredible expanse of backcountry — and with spring temps neither too warm or too chilly, now is the perfect time to saddle up your two-wheeler. Grab a map and ask the Outfitters to point you towards the mountain biking trail that starts behind the bike barn. Pack plenty of hydration and maybe snag a sandwich from The Parlor for the road.
Hiking
Pack away the snowshoes and dust off those hiking boots. Victory Ranch’s untouched backcountry is awakening from winter and just waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re in the mood for a daylong trek or just a quick jaunt, the property’s carefully designed loop trail system will rise to meet you. Take in native flora as you pass through meadows and aspen groves — and stay vigilant, you might even glimpse a Golden Eagle.
