A new winter sport has arrived at Victory Ranch. Paddle tennis, also known as platform tennis, is a fast paced racquet sport popular during the winter months, and this past weekend, we celebrated the official opening of our two new heated paddle tennis courts. The courts and adjacent warming hut are located on the grounds of The Barn, our newest amenity currently under construction and scheduled to be completed mid 2017.
To kick off the action on the courts this past weekend, we welcomed the world’s top ranked player, Drew Broderick, to Victory Ranch to host a fun, two-day introductory clinic for our members and guests. Participants received plenty of playing time while learning skill-building drills, critical positioning, and offensive and defensive strategy.
With its origins going back to the 1920s in New York, paddle tennis is mostly played during the winter when the heating system underneath the courts keeps the ice and snow away. It’s a great social activity to get the heart pumping outdoors on those days you’re not making turns on the mountains or skate skiing along our groomed Nordic trails. Each of Victory Ranch’s paddle tennis courts feature a lighting system to enable nighttime play. Heralded for both its highly social element and fast action, paddle tennis can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels.
Located right next to our paddle tennis courts is a Signature Series Airstream, which serves as a temporary warming hut for paddle tennis players to warm up and enjoy a drink or light bite in between sets and matches. When The Barn is completed, the amenity will feature a beautifully appointed warming hut complete with a grand fireplace and comfortable lounge area.
Complimentary equipment, located in the Airstream, is available for members. Courts are open from 9:00am to 9:00pm daily (weather dependent based on additional opening time needed to clear snow if a storm occurs). Court reservations are made through Member Services. Tennis shoes are required.
