10 Must-See Films at Sundance This Year

From Thursday, January 23 through Sunday, February 2, some of the world’s most anticipated films will hit the big screen at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City—and Victory Ranch residents get the ultimate front-row seat. At 875 Main, our private lounge at the base of Town Lift, members can gather for live music, drinks, bites and mingling by the fire. We are hosting three socials the first weekend of Sundance with extended shuttles from The Barn at 5:45pm with pickup at 8pm ($10 per person). 1. Miss Juneteenth

United States/U.S. Dramatic Competition

Written and directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples, Miss Juneteenth follows former beauty queen and single mom Turquoise Jones as she prepares her rebellious teenage daughter for a pageant competition.

2. Palm Springs

United States/U.S. Dramatic Competition

Wedding day chaos ensues in this 2019 film starring Cristin Milioti (Black Mirror, How I Met Your Mother), Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons, and Peter Gallagher (The O.C., Law & Order: SVU).

3. Save Yourselves!

United States/U.S. Dramatic Competition

A technology-dependent couple played by John Reynolds (Stranger Things, Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Sunita Mani (GLOW, No Activity) unplugging in a remote cabin in the woods is unaware when aliens attack earth in this satirical sci-fi comedy.

4. Shirley

United States/U.S. Dramatic Competition

Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale, Mad Men) plays horror author Shirley Jackson in this somewhat biographical period drama about an eccentric couple. 

5. Us Kids

United States/U.S. Documentary Competition

Director Kim A. Snyder (Newtown, 2016 Sundance Film Festival) follows student activists over a period of 18 months after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting claimed 17 lives.

6. Coded Bias

United States/U.S. Documentary Competition

Director Shalini Kantayya (Catching the Sun) shines a light on how artificial intelligence (AI) is used and some of the major flaws in its development and usage as it becomes more widespread.

7. Crip Camp

United States/U.S. Documentary Competition

This documentary showcases incredible footage from a 1971 camp for disabled teens down the road from the infamous Woodstock and examines the disability-rights movement. Closed captioning, audio description and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation before and after the film will be available.

8. Four Good Days 

United States/World Premiere

Guilt-ridden mom Deb (Glenn Close) is surprised by a visit from her drug addict daughter Molly (Mila Kunis) in this emotional rollercoaster of a film by Rodrigo Garcia (Nine Lives, Party of Five reboot).

9. The Glorias 

United States/World Premiere

Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, and more play journalist and activist Gloria Steinem in this highly anticipated biopic by Julie Taymor (Frida, Across the Universe).

10. The Last Thing He Wanted

United States/World Premiere

An all-star cast of Anne Hathaway, Willem Dafoe, and Ben Affleck bring to life characters from Joan Didion’s novel of the same name, directed by Dee Rees (Pariah, Mudbound).

$10 charge per person, which covers departure and return. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to departure. Please be advised that the shuttle schedule may be modified, for all departure times, if there aren’t any sign-ups by 24 hours in advance.
